Very different from her usual wardrobe.

Meghan Markle is wearing a LOT of colour today and it really suits her

If there’s one thing that Meghan Markle has become known for in her time as a royal, it’s her penchant for dark colours.

The Duchess has an enviable wardrobe full of designer pieces but has tended to stick to a palette of black, grey, navy and other muted tones.

It all makes for a very businesslike aesthetic but we’re always hoping to see her experiment with a little more colour.

Thankfully, we’ve finally gotten our wish – just look at what she’s wearing today.

She’s chosen a striking, jewel-toned look for her first public outing of the year with Prince Harry – a £1,085 red wrap coat from Canadian brand Sentaler and a £107 dress by Babaton by Aritizia, another Canadian favourite.

She has accessorised with a pair of red court heels and a tan-coloured bag from Gabriela Hearst.

The look is already drawing comparisons between Meghan and Princess Diana and it’s not hard to see why.

Red and purple might not be two colours you’d immediately put together but it’s a combo that Diana rocked on more than one occasion.

Meghan and Harry are out and about in Birkenhead in the north of England today.

The couple have travelled up from London  to meet with local community groups.
