Say hello to the simple reason why you NEED to put your tights in your freezer

A very handy clothing hack to have these days.

Trine Jensen-Burke

It’s getting very chilly out there mamas and, sadly, we can only dream of days when we’ll be able to bare our legs under a dress or skirt.

Most of us cannot imagine getting through the winter season without our trusty opaque tights. They are a total lifesaver when temperatures drop (or when we have skipped the aul’ tanning routine, making our legs too pasty to put out there for the world to see).

The only problem? The tights only last a couple of days’ wear (if even!) before you inevitably end up with a run in them.

But what if we told you we know this trick that can extend the life of your tights – in ONE easy peasy step? Are you listening? All you need to do (ta-da!), is FREEZE them.

That’s right. It sounds crazy, but you will be converted once you have tried this, trust us.

Here is what you do: The next time you buy a new pair (and before you wear them), run them under water until they’re damp. Then put them in a plastic bag and freeze overnight. The next morning you take them out and leave out somewhere all day, to give them time to properly defrost and thaw out.

The idea here is that the chilly temps firm and strengthen the individual fibers of your tights, making them less susceptible to runs later on. You only need to do this once, by the way, not prior to every wear.

Now; go freeze those tights. You can thank us later.
