This new version of balayage is EVERYWHERE now (and you’ll see why)

Longer days, warmer weather (at least the rain is getting a little less freezing!) and Daffodils everywhere can only mean one thing: Spring is hovering right around the corner.

And we don’t know about you, but this time a year always makes us feel like a little change, like say, a new hair colour?

If this is you too, we have found the most perfect colour there is – Smokey blonde – or a ‘lazy-girls balayage,’ if you will.

Are you ready? According to Byrdie, it is like an ombre, but just focused on the top – with a dark, smokey root that just fades into a lighter colour.

What this means, all you low-maintenance mamas, is that even as the colours start to fade, you will end up with something that still looks good, just slightly more effortless and natural.

This is what celebrity hair stylist Matt Rez told the beauty website about the shade, which also has been spotted on celebrities like Kristen Stewart, Dree Hemingway, Olivia Wilde, and Chiara Ferragni of late.

“We started with a very root-y look, but it had more of a dramatic, ombré feel,” said Rez the rise of smoky blonde. “Then we moved into the sombré look.” Then came balayage, which offered a more natural, sun-kissed feel to that grown-out colour. “Now we’re still shadowed at the root, but it’s not such a stark-rooted look as ombré.”
