Oil slick hair

Call your hairdresser – you are going to want to test out the new oil slick hair trend that Instagram is currently obsessed with.

What we love the most is that this is a hair trend designed, for most part, for brunettes – meaning we can finally get in on the action that the blondes have been having for a long time with all their unicorn hair and pink tips and then some.

And now, despite not being a new technique, oil slick hair has gained momentum on social media for its holographic, sleek, oil-esque shine. The name, which alludes to the technique’s likeness to the colour pattern oil makes when hitting the sunlight, is a gorgeous mix of blues, purples, yellows and greens woven throughout wavy hair.

And the result is nothing short of stunning.

According to Vogue Australia, oil slick hair works on all hair colours, but it seems to have really caught on with brunettes, where palette of purples, chestnuts and navy blues are blended into dark tresses with gorgeous holographic results.
