Because who can ever fold anything as well as she can?

If you are anything like me, you have long since reached the organising frenzy stage of this lockdown.

And when you have organised everything else, chances are what you are left with is bed linens and sheets. In particular, all those fitted sheets which are an absolute nightmare to try to bend into submission. Honestly, my go-to approach thus far has just been to crumple them up into a ball and shove them to the back of the hot press.

However, now that I have meticulously tidied and organised every other inch of my home, the time has come to once and for all learn how to fold those annoying fitted sheets. And lucky for me, organizational guru Marie Kondo – the star of Netflix’s hit show Tidying Up with Marie Kondo – has shared her secrets on how to fold fitted sheets using five simple steps.

Here are her best tips, which Kondo recently shared with Good Housekeeping:

Step 1: Set up your fitted-sheet folding workspace

Lay out the fitted sheet on a completely flat surface, elastic band facing up.

Step 2: Make the first folds

Fold the sheet in thirds lengthwise by bringing one long side in across the centre, then the other. This step should leave you with a long, narrow rectangle.

Step 3: Fold the fitted sheet again

This time, fold the rectangle in half widthwise.

Step 4: Roll the fitted sheet up

Roll the fitted sheet from one short side to the other until it forms into a nice compact cylinder shape.

Step 5: Store the fitted sheet the right way

Store your fitted sheet upright, in a storage container or linen closet, alongside your other bedding.
