I love when my skin looks lovely and tanned.
It makes me feel taller, thinner and just, well, everything seems more right in my world when I have a tan.
However, being a beauty writer and having interviewed an absolute ton of dermatologists and skincare experts over the years, I avoid the actual sun like the plague (like, I shade bade on holidays, completely coverd in SPF 50 from head to toe). Which leaves me with fake tans.
And believe you me when I tell you I have tried many over the years, some good, some average, some leaving me looking like an absolute Oompa Loompa.
However, one of the brands I always keep coming back to when it comes to sunless tanning is St. Tropez – simply because they just do what they do so incredibly well. And so with their latest innovation, I was forever sold once I had tested it.
The new Gradual Tan One-Minute Pre-Shower Tanning Mousse (yep, the name is really that long) is super-convenient, and perfect for those times you really need to tan and go.
I just followed the instructions, and applied the streak-free mousse to my skin before having a shower, waited a minute, and then showered as normal. And guys – it worked. It had coloured my skin the perfect shade of “were you away somewhere?” brown, which was exactly what I was looking for.
As to how it can possibly work so quickly, the experts at St. Tropez explain that it is all down to the vegan-friendly and effective formula, allowing the naturally derived DHA to penetrate the surface of the skin faster, for that super-quick all-over glow.
I loved how the tan came out lovely from the get-go, but also kept developing over the next few hours, meaning by evening, my skin looked even better and slightly more bronzed. If you want a deeper tan, you can use this mousse ahead of all your morning showers, which will give you the perfect year-round glow, if you ask me.
The best bit? The lack of that tell-tale tan smell, as I was able to shower so quickly and hence eliminate all that metallic-y smell that normally comes with sunless tanner. It also left my skin feeling softer than many other tans do, probably due to the added vitamin E and jojoba oil.
