‘I shouldn’t have really been there!’
Very few brides would let their other half know anything about what they’re wearing on their wedding day ahead of time but to be fair, Meghan Markle wasn’t like other brides.
It turns out that Meghan ignored superstition and let her groom see one part of her wedding outfit before they got married back in May.
Prince Harry was there when she chose her tiara for the big day.
In an interview the couple did as part of a new exhibition, A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan called the experience “surreal”.
“When it came to the tiara on the day, I was very fortunate to be able to choose this gorgeous art deco style bandeau tiara,” she said.
“Harry and I had gone to Buckingham Palace to meet with Her Majesty the Queen to select one of the options that were there, which was an incredibly surreal day as you can imagine.
“I think it was just perfect because it was so clean and simple.”
Harry revealed that he helped Meghan choose Queen Mary’s Filigree tiara and said that the loan was a “very sweet” gesture by the queen.
“Every girl’s dream is to be able to try on a tiara and, funnily enough, it was the one that suited the best, the one that looked the best on you without question,” Harry said.
“I shouldn’t have really been there, but an incredible loan by my grandmother, it was very sweet.”
The tiara features a diamond brooch that was given to Princess Mary when she married Prince George, Duke of York in 1893. It was later inherited by Queen Elizabeth.
