Steal her style: How to recreate Meghan Markle’s sleek home office on a budget

how to recreate Meghan Markle's home office on a budget

Is it just us, or are we all lusting after Meghan Markle’s WFH situation?

To celebrate her entry into the 40s, the Duchess of Sussex jumped on a Zoom call with comedian Melissa McCarthy to announce a cause close to her heart: “I’m asking 40 friends to donate 40 minutes of their time to help mentor a woman who’s mobilizing back into the workforce.” And while she inspired women to help women, she also inspired us in another arena.

From the gorgeous oversized desk, to the casually draped Hermes Avalon blanket, the right-on-trend fiddle leaf fig and that very zen looking crystal, we can just imagine being a lot more productive if this was our environment instead of the crappy desk in the box room – or worse, a corner of the kitchen island, where we are all currently working away from.

But fear not – you don’t actually have to be a duchess to achieve Meghan’s home office style.

We have rounded up some key buys that’ll give you the perfect California-style WFH set-up. And you don’t even have to marry a prince to afford it!

1. ShopStore Hermes dupe blanket

We can’t all afford to drop more than €2000 on a throw – but as luck would have it, there are plenty of dupes out there for the classic Hermes Avalon blanket.

$63, ShopStore

2. Woven sisal rug

Meghan has opted for an earthy and beach-house like sisal rug in her home office. We love this simple version from Zara Home.

€279-€379, Zara Home

3. Möckelby dining table

Meghan’s oversized desk is a real statement piece, and might even be custom-made. But we reckon the lovely Möckleby oak dining table from Ikea will do the trick.

€349, Ikea

4. Kasbah Iron Vase

A gold vase filled with white roses can be seen in one corner of Meghan’s desk. And although not identical, we think this lovely one from EZ Living Interiors will do just fine.

€55, EZ Living Interiors

5. Large quartz crystal

Quartz crystals enhance spiritual growth, spirituality, awareness, and wisdom. It is also said to increases inspiration and creativity, help with concentration, studying, and retaining what one learns. In other words, a great addition to your home office.

€50, Folkster

6. Floor Standing Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree

Meghan’s fig tree might be real, but we think this faux version from M&S might just be easier to keep alive longer.

€70, M&S

7. Patterned porcelain cup

The Duchess of Sussex is seen sipping tea from a black-and-white patterned tea cup – and while we don’t know what make hers is, we reckon this bargain version from H&M Home is pretty royally cute too.

€7.99, H&M Home
