Tress relief: The miracle shampoo that saved my dry, damaged lockdown hair

Trine Jensen-Burke

Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate

Because who knows when I’ll next set foot in a hair salon…

These are desperate times, no? Especially when it comes to our normal grooming habits such as blow-dries or colour touch-ups every few weeks.

I don’t know about you but after a year of no salon-visits, trims or anything, my hair was in terrible shape. Dry, dull and brassy, and every time I ran the brush through it, so much hair came out I was actually starting to worry I might end up with bald patches.

Normally, I have my ends trimmed about every two months, but now, six months had passed and my hair was a tangly, split-end mess.

And then a friend recommended the brand new Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo and conditioner.

Desperate as I was, I ordered the shampoo and conditioner straight away, and even after the first use, I must admit, I was blown away.

Shockingly, after just washing my hair with it once, I could run my Tangle Teezer through it without catching on a tangle even once. And let me tell you – this was nothing short of a miracle. Usually, even straight after washing it lately, my hair feels dry at the ends, and looks matted and dull.

Now, though, it felt like I had been at the hairdressers. My hair felt soft, shiny and so, so nourished. After one wash – I really was blown away.

Having used it for a month now, I can honestly say the Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate products saved my hair. My hair is longer than it has been in years, and normally, this would have me itching to get rid of the split ends, but now, it feels – and looks – totally healthy. Every strand feels soft and touchable, and it’s bizarre, seeing it is the longest I have ever gone without getting my hair trimmed.

It turns out, the magic ingredient in Redken’s newest product might just be Citric Acid,  as this reinforces weakened bonds within your hair to improve hair strength and resiliency. And according to their website, the Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo is their most concentrated all-in-one formula ever for repair for all types of damaged hair.

One thing I really love, is how thick and luxurious both the shampoo and conditioner feel, and how a little bit really goes a long way.

In tests, it turns out people found using the shampoo resulted in less breakage, fewer split ends, less frizz, and it also protected their colour from fading.

The best bit? It is suitable for all hair types and colours, and if you are struggling with unruly lockdown locks, I really cannot recommend this enough!
