A man has been charged with the murder of father, Michael Tormey

The father of two was shot at his home.

Last week Gardaí revealed that a man in his early 40s and a woman in her late 30s have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Michael Tormey.

The shooting occurred at a residence in the Thomond Road area of Ballyfermot, County Dublin on Sunday, January 9.

The victim, Michael Tormey (49) was shot in the front garden of his house at 4.35am while his wife and one of his children were inside.

Today Gardaí investigating the fatal shooting released a statement that they have charged one man.

The man (40 years) has been charged in relation to the incident and is due to appear before Criminal Courts of Justice on Wednesday morning, 19th January, 2022 at 10.30a.m.

The woman (39 years) was released without charge this evening and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Investigations are ongoing.
