Staying home: The DIY mermaid slime that’ll make you the coolest mum around

Are we that bored yet that it's time to bring slime back...?

I think so. For sure in my house anyway, and I know that come next week, we will need to pull out all the stops to stop us all from climbing the walls. Either way, it can be good to have a few indoor activities up your sleeve to keep the kids busy with, no? Enter slime. Again. Mermaid slime, to be more precise. Because anything mermaid is bound to make even the most slime-jaded child feel excited about getting the glue out again. Fancy giving it a go? Mermaid Slime Ingredients 2 bottles of glitter glue (blue and green is very mermaid-y, so stick with those) 1 tablespoon of water to make your slime stretchier Chunky glitter (silver and blue/green) 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda 1 1/2 tablespoon of contact lens solution Instructions 1. Get a bowl to mix your slime ingredients in. 2. Empty your bottle of blue glitter glue into the bowl. Then add a little bit of your green glitter glue. Set the green glitter glue aside for another craft project. Mix both glues together. 3. Add your 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda and mix in thoroughly. Also add 1 tablespoon or more of water here (up to 1/4 cup) if you want a stretchier slime. 4. Then add in your chunky glitter and a little bit of fine blue glitter. We used a lot of the chunky glitter so that it covered the slime and looked more like a mermaid tail. 5. Slowly add in your contact lens solution. Add it in a teaspoon at a time and then continue to mix. Reminder: your contact lens solution should contain boric acid or your slime will not form. Tip: Add a few teaspoons of contact solution at a time and then mix. Once the slime starts to pull away from the bowl you can take the slime out and knead with your hands. It will still be sticky at this point and that is normal. Just keep kneading. If after kneading for 5 minutes it is still sticky, add more contact lens solution, a few teaspoons at a time. Now – once your slime gets to the texture you want, you are good to go!
