An album title also features as one child’s middle name
A heavy metal-loving mother in New Zealand has named her kids after her three favourite bands: Metallica, Slayer and Pantera.
In an interview with New Zealand journalist and podcaster David Farrier, the anonymous woman said “it’s not easy raising three of the heaviest bands.”
Farrier told of the “crossbow-wielding mother” in his Webworm newsletter and on Twitter.
He says he became sceptical of her claims when she told him Metallica’s middle name was also ‘And Justice For All,’ in tribute to the band’s fourth album. However, New Zealand’s registrar-general Jeff Montgomery confirmed the birth of the child had been registered in 2009 with that name.
“There are no restrictions on naming babies after bands or albums,” said Montgomery. “As long as the word used is not generally considered to be offensive or does not resemble an official rank or title.”
We suppose that means Slayer’s middle name isn’t ‘God Hates Us All,’ then.
Farrier also said he’s seen the birth certificates confirming the names, and so metal mama has his full respect.
thread 4/4: finally, i think it's important to note (as you can see in the photo in my article) this mother is also a big fan of crossbows which are also truly metal and she deserves our complete and utter respect for this (and for raising three kids): https://t.co/kiXGTrr60A
