What we know so far about Lindsay Lohan’s Irish film

Sarah McKenna Barry

We. Can’t. Wait.

After we learned earlier this week that Netflix was on the lookout for an Irish Lindsay Lohan lookalike, more details have emerged about the star’s project, and it’s safe to say we’re definitely looking forward to this one.

The Mean Girls actress is starring in Irish Wish, a Netflix romcom that is being filmed right here in Ireland, and it’s directed by Janeen Damian, who is also the director of Lindsay’s upcoming holiday film, Falling For Christmas.

In fact, Irish Wish is the second film in Lindsay’s two-year creative partnership with the streaming service, with Falling For Christmas coming to Netflix on 10 November 2022.

In the film, which is a romantic comedy, Lindsay plays Maddie, who is tasked with being the bridesmaid at her best friend’s wedding in Ireland. However, the bride in question is marrying the love of Maddie’s life, so our girl is forced to put her feelings aside.

Days before the wedding, Maddie makes a “spontaneous wish for true love”, and the next day, she wakes up in the body of her best friend. While it may seem like her dream is coming true, she learns that maybe it’s not all it’s cracked up to be, and that her real mate is “someone else entirely”.

Both of Lindsay’s upcoming films are being produced by MCPA, who are also responsible for the Netflix films Falling for Christmas, A Christmas Prince films, The Princess Switch films, and Operation Christmas Drop, so we know we’re in for a feel-good treat.

Earlier this week, a spokesperson for the film told the Western People that they are looking for a full-time body camera double for Lindsay’s character, who is willing to dye their head read for the role.

Irish Wish isn’t the only Netflix project currently being filmed in Ireland as Bodkin, a comedy-thriller series, is being filmed in Dublin, Wicklow and Cork and is being produced by Barack and Michelle Obama.
