Illuminated free family forest walks in Marlay Park & Cabinteely Park to remain open

Melissa Carton

They will remain open until the end of the month.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown is all aglow this year with fairylike forest walks and several buildings are bathed with a magical glow inviting people to wrap up warm, get out in the crisp clean air.

The very popular illuminated forest walks at Marlay Park and Cabinteely Park will now remain open until January 28th and are open Monday to Friday from 4pm to 8pm.

The family fiendly walks are fully accessible for wheelchairs and buggies and are an oasis of calm beneath the twinkling lights.

Walkers can also rest assured that the illuminated walks are environmentally friendly and kind to our planet.

The main parts of the twinkling walking trails in Marlay Park and Cabinteely Park are powered by electrical generators as a mains electrical supply is unavailable.

These generators are fuelled by Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) Renewable Diesel. HVO Renewable Diesel is a premium fossil free diesel product made from 100 per cent renewable raw materials, which does not release any new carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. It is produced by hydrotreatment of vegetable oils and/or animal fats.

The fuel has been proven to reduce carbon emissions by up to 90% when compared with fossil diesel in the same applications.

The very popular illuminated Christmas walking trails in Marlay Park and Cabinteely Park walking trails are free to attend and fully accessible to all.

With many indoor venues closing at 8pm for the foreseeable future, it’s a great way to get out and about with the kids after you lose the daylight hours.
