Johnny’s dad passed away in March of this year after a long battle with cancer.
Christmas can be a difficult time for families when a loved one has passed away. Former Fair City star Johnny Ward has opened up about how he’s feeling leading up to the holidays.
Speaking to Dáithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane on Today, the actor said the first year is going to be “tough” without his dad, however, he was lucky that he got to spend so much time with him.
“You know what on a positive note, just having him around for Christmas was an amazing bonus. It really was brilliant.
“He was a massive part of my life,” he said.
The Coppers the Musical star also revealed he had to move in with his mother this year after she suffered a heart attack the day after the Dancing With The Stars final.
“Literally the day after the Dancing With The Stars finals she had a heart attack. But now thankfully, she’s great and she’s back to her normal self,” he said.
“I wouldn’t want to live with anyone else we’re best friends and we get on really well.”
