No, you’re crying! An Irish mother reunited with her child as she returns from Navy ship

Laura Cunningham

There isn’t a dry eye in the house here after watching this video of Irish mother Grace Fanning be reunited with her daughter Fiadh, earlier this week.

Grace received the most gorgeous welcome home when she returned from an away patrol on the Irish Navy ship, LÉ Róisín.

Fiadh is just two years and nine months old and can’t contain her excitement at seeing her mammy arrive at the door. She clings on to her for dear life in what looks like the best hug of all time, before excitedly telling her to come inside for a party.

We’re. in. bits.

Grace, who lives in Cork with her partner Carol told us: “It was heartbreaking leaving her, but amazing coming home.” Fiadh clearly agrees.

She went on to explain: “We do a mixture of two weeks at sea and two weeks at home, and then four weeks away and four weeks at home, for a period of two years.”

What a great role model Grace is for her daughter – we bet little Fiadh is so proud of her mam.

Better man the lifeboats, because we’re about to drown in our own tears.
