Love Island‘s Chris Hughes has revealed his fertility worries for a new documentary.

The reality TV star, who rose to fame during the 2017 instalment of the dating show, has said that he is unsure if he will ever be able to have kids due to a series of operations he underwent when he was younger.

As a teenager, Chris was diagnosed with a testicular vein condition called varicoceles.

The condition can lead to a low sperm count which can be corrected through surgery. According to The Mirror, Chris had three operations in a bid to tackle the issue.

Chris will discuss his fertility fears in his upcoming BBC Three documentary, Me, My Brother, and Our Balls.

The film will examine fertility from a male perspective while also touching on Chris’s family’s history of fertility related issues.

Chris’s brother Ben was diagnosed with testicular cancer in January of this year. He had discovered a lump after Chris ran a segment on self-checking on This Morning.

“I learnt things about male fertility that really surprised me,” he says in the documentary.

“Fertility is often a subject that guys don’t consider until it might be too late, so I’m hoping this documentary will raise awareness and help men who might be struggling with these issues.”

In the documentary, which is set to air early next year, Chris will discuss his fears about having children with girlfriend Jesy Nelson.

He and the Little Mix star have been together for nine months. They recently discussed getting married, with the Love Island contestant revealing that he’s “ready to settle down.”

“We both want to get married,” he told The Sun.

“We found each other and we have endless respect for each other. I think that’s why our relationship works. We’re proper family people. We love each other’s family. I’m ready to settle down and I think she is.”
