There will be workshops and demonstrations to help you perfect this once-a-year feast preparation. Just head to the DID Electrical Chef's Theatre to see Ireland's top culinary talent slicing and dicing their way through all the best festive recipes. Think mince pies, yule logs, and meringue roulades (yes, we're getting fancy this year).
It's not just Christmas Day either, Patrick Ryan will be sharing his secrets on how to bake the best buttermilk batch bread - the perfect carrier for those turkey and ham sandwiches. JR Ryall, Nicola Curran Zammit, Brian McDermott, Aoife Noonan, and Karan Mittal will all be there with ideas for some scrumptious festive canapes to serve at any Christmas parties you may be hosting. I mean, we might as well now, just to try them out...
For the main Christmas Day dinner, Adrian Martin and Edward Hayden will be taking you under their wing as they teach you how to cook the most succulent turkey, how to glaze your ham to perfection, and how to roast the crispiest potatoes. We're drooling just thinking about how great we're going to be.
For anyone who wants to try out some veggie or vegan dishes this year, Ciara Brennan, Holly White, and Jeeny Maltese will be creating some alternative festive recipes that are sure to taste divine. They will also be putting together some gluten-free bites so they're a must-visit if you have any coeliacs in the house.
If all of that isn't enough to entice you (who are you kidding?), there will be piles and piles of dishes to sample as you make your way around the floor. We think the kids in particular will love that part.
On Sunday, December 1, there will also be a host of family-friendly activities at Taste. We're talking interactive kids cookery demos with Deirdre Doyle of The Cool Food School, edible gifts demos with Lizzy Lyons, gingerbread decorating with Devoted to Cakes, and even card-making masterclasses with The Little Craft Shop. These are truly great experiences for the whole family to try out. Plus (best of all!) they're entirely free. Hurrah!
There is so much happening at Taste of Dublin's first-ever festive event. To find out more about it and to book yourself some tickets, head over to the Taste of Dublin website. Be quick though! They're only there for a few days.
This is going to be the best year ever.
