Recipe: You need to try this spooky cocktail recipe for Halloween

Tara Trevaskis Hoskin

Need a fresh idea for your Halloween drinks?

Here’s a frighteningly good recipe to try.

Whether you want something to impress everyone at your Halloween party or need something to add to an eerie dinner party, this is sure to make your night terror-ific!

Lidl has teamed up with Cal Byrne who was named World Class Bartender of Year by Diageo in 2021, to create a perfect cocktail for your Halloween get-together.

The cocktail festively named the Púca Punch ((Púca an Irish Ghost / Spirit in Irish folklore) is inspired by Samhain, the ancient Celtic pagan festival of the dead, that Gaelic people in the 10th century  began celebrating on the 31st of October.

This cocktail is packed with the sweet and sour flavours of October treats with a combination of Lidl’s fruit juice, Korol Premium Vodka, Bitterol Aperitivo topped with a spine-tingling dash of Valdobbiadene Superiore Prosecco.

Aesthetically the drink turns into an autumnal pumpkin coloured dream that will look great on anyone’s Insta feed.

Don’t worry if you still haven’t gotten around to buying that cocktail kit either as all the equipment you need is a glass and spoon, simple!

All of the ingredients can be found in your local Lidl, both the Korol Premium Vodka and Valdobbiadene Superiore Prosecco are just €12.99 so it won’t break the bank either.

Púca Punch

Serves One

  • 30ml Korol Premium Vodka
  • 20ml Bitterol Aperitivo 40ml Apple, Pear & Raspberry Cold Pressed Juice
  • 5ml Maple Syrup
  • Soda Water
  • Dash of Valdobbiadene Superiore Prosecco

Method

  1. Place ice in a glass
  2. Add a small amount of both soda water and Valdobbiadene Superiore Prosecco in first to the glass.
  3. Slowly add the Vodka, Aperitivo, maple and cold pressed juice to the glass
  4. Stir lightly to mix the drink but be careful to preserve the bubbles.
  5. Finish with a slice of lemon and enjoy!

If you’re looking for some Halloween treats to accompany your cocktails you could try a few of these fun mummy cakes or a pumpkin and praline cheesecake dip coupled with ginger biscuits!
