There’s an afternoon tea for the little ones happening in Galway this month

Jade Hayden

Everybody likes afternoon tea.

You’ve got your sandwiches, your cakes, your eclairs, and all the tea, prosecco, and assortment of other liquids you could ask for.

Ideal.

The only fault we could possibly find with afternoon tea is that generally, the kids aren’t invited.

You need to find someone to look after them for the afternoon while you indulge in all the cakes and mini desserts you could possibly eat, until you return and need to explain why mammy got to eat all the fancy foods while the kids had to stay at home.

Grim.

Now, however, you needn’t worry about that anymore.

Well, not if you live in Galway that is because the G Hotel are hosting a Little Miss and Mr afternoon tea for the month of February and it sounds divine.

For the adults, they’ve got everything from freshly baked scones to Atlantic crab on soda bread to strawberry mascarpone verrine.

And, of course, a lot of prosecco and Galway gin, if you’re anyway into that sort of thing.

For the little ones, they’ve got Rice Krispie buns, rocky road, gingerbread cookies, and strawberry jam on brown bread, served with either a hot chocolate or a milkshake.

Something for everyone in the family, to be honest.

The afternoon tea starts at €62 per couple and €14 per child.

Bookings are being taken Monday through Sunday between 12-6pm for the month of February.

To secure a table, you can contact eat@theG.ie or call them on +353 91 865200.
