Here’s how you and yours can become Rescuers For a Day with everyone’s favourite flipper-footed friends…
In order to tackle the destructive effects of single use plastic in Irish waters, wildlife rescue and registered conservation charity Seal Rescue Ireland have partnered up with BRITA Ireland in a quest to be part of the solution to pollution.
Did you know that every piece of plastic ever produced is still in existence today? It’s projected that by the year 2050, there’ll be more plastic in the ocean than fish! At HerFamily, we want to see a much brighter future for our hopeful little ones and our wildlife, which is why we need to see an end to single use plastic ending up in our seas.

It’s incredibly encouraging to see brands like BRITA provide sustainable alternatives, a recycling programme and partner with organisations such as Seal Rescue Ireland who saved 170 seals in 2020 alone. SRI have been planting trees, hosting outreach events and allowing members of the public to chip in during the rehabilitation process, here we’re seeing crucial change in action.
While that all sounds incredibly heavy, here’s the fun part! We’re giving away FOUR Rescuer For a Day experiences at Seal Rescue Ireland in Courtown, Wexford that the whole family can enjoy. Providing a behind-the-scenes look at how SRI care for, protect and enrich these little mammals lives on their road to recovery, you’d be barking mad not to enter!
Defrosting fish for seal supper, cleaning a pool or kennel and actually helping to feed these lovely seals, the prize also includes lots of goodies including hoodies and plushes from Seal Rescue Ireland and jugs and bottles from BRITA.
