Brought to you by HelloFresh
From having a chore chart to spreading tasks out throughout the day, there is so much you can do to motivate your little ones.
Back to school can be a particularly busy time, and as parents, we could all do with a little chore support from the whole family.
In addition to helping with the burden of household tasks, encouraging your children to do their part is super important. It teaches them responsibility as well as vital life skills, and getting everyone on board will lead to a cleaner, more organised home.
Now, without further ado, here are our top tips for getting your child to help out more at home this back to school.
Make a chores chart
Write down daily or weekly chores on a blackboard and as they work through them, they can mark them as done with a satisfying tick.
Spread the chores out throughout the day
Instead of tasking your children with 40 minutes of chores when they get home from school, spread them out throughout the day. For instance, they can make their beds in the morning, unload the dishwasher after school, set the table before dinner and tidy their toys away before bed.
Keep the chores age appropriate
It’s unrealistic to expect your five-year-old to put on a load of washing, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get involved with the laundry. They can help separate lights from darks, or they can help match up socks after they’ve been washed. If you’d like them to help out with cooking, why not get started with HelloFresh? You can ask them to unpack the ingredients for you, read out instructions or with little tasks while you cook.
