A dad was left feeling a bit queasy after helping himself to his kids’ Halloween treats this year.
Adrian Johnson, from Leeds, nabbed a pack of McVittie’s milk chocolate digestives from his daughters’ sweets…only to find they had a best before date of May 15 1999.
He tweeted:
“Think I’ve just eaten a biscuit (from a packet given to our kids while trick or treating) that went out of date 18 years ago.
“Not joking.”

The dad-of-two explained to HuffPostUk that the biscuits had “just an awful, gone-off, lingering bad taste”.
And while the first bite of the cookie tasted a bit off, he recalled how it wasn’t until the second bite that something was totally wrong.
He explained:
“So I sniffed them, looked at the biscuit side, which was quite white rather than the usual brown-ish colour, and it was then that I checked the sell-by date.
“That second bit ended up in the sink and I had to rinse my mouth and brush my teeth. Pretty gross.”
And while the biscuits might’ve left a bad taste in his mouth, Adrian told the publication that his daughters found it hilarious.
He added:
“My kids, Poppy and Eidy, found it hilarious this morning when I told them the story, as they were asleep when it all happened.
“They did point out that I shouldn’t have been pinching their Halloween treats in the first place!”
