You never know what another person has gone through.
A woman, known on Twitter as Lisa Marie, has taken to the social networking site after she had a conversation with another woman about children.
The woman first asked her age, and when she told her, her response was, “And you don’t have kids? Wow, time to get on that.”
What the woman didn’t know is that Lisa Marie has had seven miscarriages, and now in a series of tweets, Lisa has explained why you should not ask people personal questions like that.
The thread is as follows:
Them: How old are you?
Me: 33.
Them: And you don’t have kids? Wow, time to get on that.
Me: I’ve had 7 miscarriages.
Them: *Looking incredibly uncomfortable*
Me: Annnnnnnnnd I hope we’ve learned a lesson in asking inappropriate personal questions.— Lisa Marie ?️? (@xLiserx) August 12, 2018
Seriously, though: Don’t ask people why they don’t have kids or stopped at one. There can be so many painful, personal reasons why that’s the case. Regardless of your reasons, it’s nobody’s business.

This is my real life and something I get asked constantly. And it’s never a comfortable conversation the times I have to tackle it.

Please don’t hijack this thread to tell me about adoption or fostering because that’s not what the point of the thread is nor does it change my pain and the conversations that never seem to stop from strangers.
