Mum furious after seeing four-year-old child's 'ridiculous' nursery schedule

Being an adult is hard but this nursery schedule is a close second

One Australian mum discovered just how hard her child was working when she went to a meeting to discuss why her daughter wasn’t “doing well”.

When the mother dropped her child off and asked a member of staff for an update about how her daughter was progressing, she was told that she was struggling to concentrate in “all subjects”.

The woman was initially concerned but when she saw the schedule her daughter faced, she quickly understood why she was finding things difficult.

It’s safe to say the mum was fuming when she realised the $125-a-day (€76) nursery ran a jam-packed 7 am to 6.30 pm routine for their pupils.

The strict regime includes lessons in maths and engineering, history, creative arts, and science and technology from 9 am to 12.40 pm, with a break for a “progressive morning tea” in between.

Following the morning lessons, pupils are given a “progressive” half-hour lunch, meaning there are no strict eating times and children eat when they’re hungry.

A period of meditation and rest is then held between 1.30 pm – 2 pm before they learn about “news, letters and booklet” until 3.45 pm.

There’s then “free discussion time,” a “progressive afternoon tea” and after-school care to wrap up the day.

The mum shared a snap of the gruelling timetable in a Facebook group back in 2020 while venting her frustration with the lack of flexibility for the young children.

She penned: “Is this what preschoolers are meant to be learning in a long day centre every day in their class? Or is it just me thinking this is really ridiculous?

“I looked at her schedule and no wonder why my four-year-old has no concentration.”

Her fellow parents were on her side, questioning why the children were facing such a demanding schedule.

One commented: “This is a bulls**t routine. When do they get to be kids?” while another added, “The teacher has forgotten where she is teaching. This looks like my high school kids’ timetable.”

A third wrote: “Poor kids must be so confused and exhausted.”
