Everybody wants perfect skin. It's the one thing we can agree on. Some people don't might getting old, having grey hair, or watching as their body decays and becomes decrepit and essentially unusable, but god forbid they've got crap skin. As a nation, there are plenty of things we can do to make our skin that little bit less miserable. We can go makeup-free one day a week, use cleansers that don't suck every bit of moisture out of our faces, and basically just take better care of ourselves. It shouldn't be so difficult, and yet, it is. The Japanese, however, seem to have it pretty much figured it out because they've been using the same skincare technique for hundreds of years and they seem pretty happy with the results. Apparently, the key to perfect skin is patting on lotions and creams instead of rubbing them in. Yeah, it really is that simple, lads. Patting on products stimulates blood flow and promotes collagen as opposed to rubbing things into your skin which doesn't actually do very much of anything really. A few years back, Cosmopolitan spoke to dermatologist, Francesca Fusco, who told them pretty much the same thing. She said that the patting motion is more gentle and won't "pull" your skin the way rubbing will. "If you spread on your cream, you can accidentally push against the flow of your lymphatic system, which can actually make you puffy - especially around your eye area," she said.
