A celebrity hairstylist just shared a genius hack for the perfect messy bun

Appleton has A-listers like both Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopes on his list of regulars, and when you see this nifty trick, you might just begin to understand why. The Hollywood hair guru frequently shares clever hairstyling tricks with his over two million social media followers, and this latest trick might just be his most impressive yet. Just take a look at this super-fast, super-effective way of creating the perfect just-messy-enough bun.

Posting a video to Instagram, Appleton demonstrates just how you can achieve the perfect messy bun – and goodness, who knew it could be this simple.

Describing it as the “easiest hair hack to create the perfect messy bun”, he begins:

“First of all, split the hair down the middle and then create two high ponytails.

"On the last loop of your ponytail, just pull the hair through to a bun.”

He continues: “Once you’ve got two buns, you want to cross them over and pin them into place. I then use the Colour Wow Style on Steroids Texturising Spray just to give the hair a bit of volume and a bit of hold. Then, I just took the very ends of the hair in and pin it into place.”

Once the bun is in place, the hair guru explains:

“This is where you get to personalise it a bit and make it a bit fuller and then I like to dress out the baby hairs.

“Pull it out so it’s all a bit wispy and a bit soft and you get that perfect messy bun in just a few minutes. Like I said, perfect for thin or thick hair."
