There are so many myths surrounding what happens as women if we shave (or dermaplane) our faces.
For years people have been taught, or assumed themselves, that if you dermaplane your face, the hair, or peach fuzz will grow back thicker and darker than before.
In a recent video on TikTok, Dr. Aamna Adel has explained exactly why that is definitely not the case and encourages any woman who is conscious of her ‘peach fuzz’ to not be afraid of this technique.
In the short clip, she explained: “You can absolutely shave your face and the hair is not going to grow back any thicker or any faster.
“Honestly, the same applies when it comes to cutting your hair.
“It’s actually the hair follicles on your scalp which control your hair growth, so cutting or trimming your hair does not signal to the hair follicles to grow more.
“For that same reason, shaving does not make your hair grow back thicker, even though everyone is so convinced that it does.
“But I promise you that it doesn’t.
“So, if you’re a girly with peach fuzz who wants to shave, don’t be scared.”
