If you are a die-hard fan of Estée Lauder's iconic Double Wear foundation (aren't we all?), but tired of dropping close to €40 every time your bottle runs out, take note.
Word on the street (and by street, I mean social media, obvs) is that cult bargain brand, The Ordinary's Serum Foundation is actually a perfect dupe for the far more expensive Estée Lauder one – and guys – this might actually be one of those incidences where we should believe the social media hype.
Naturally, I had to order a bottle of
The Ordinary Serum Foundation straight away to test this for myself (I figured, even if the hype turned out not to be true, I would have only wasted €8 anyway).
Impressively, the foundation is available in a comprehensive tone range across 21 shades, and looking up the product description, is said the foundation 'offer moderate coverage that looks natural with a very lightweight serum feel.'
The Ordinary has achieved worldwide cult status for their ability to always get it right when it comes to their products – while keeping prices extremely low compared to other, similar quality products – and this foundation, as it turns out, is no different.
The pigments used in this foundation are treated for a rich, highly-saturated effect, and I love how you can purchase a glass dropper to dispense the product when you are using it.
The pigments are suspended in a unique proprietary spreadability system, allowing pigments to look natural on the skin, resist collecting within fine lines and stay on for longer.
And even though the product description declares this foundation to be medium-coverage, I found the coverage to be closer to full – and so perfectly even, and gave my skin the most amazing glow. The best bit? It really does feel so light – and almost serum-like as opposed to make-up. Even now, in summer, I found it melted perfectly into my skin, didn't flake or slip, and needed zero touch-ups all day.
