This is especially the case when it comes to some of the most popular products on the market.
However, one beauty expert has now shared some affordable alternatives to much-loved skincare favourites which will save you a small fortune.
Dr Aamna Adel, who regularly shares skincare advice and product recommendations on TikTok, has listed four budget-friendly beauty swaps that could help shoppers save money without compromising on their skincare routine.
First up is the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, a popular choice for anyone looking to tackle blackheads and congested pores.
Priced at €39 for 118ml, it can be a fairly expensive addition to your skincare routine.
Instead, Dr Aamna suggests trying The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, which costs just €7.50 for 30ml.
Both products contain salicylic acid, an ingredient that helps exfoliate inside the pores and loosen the build-up that contributes to congestion and blackheads.
Another popular skincare product with a more affordable alternative is Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Cream, which is €97 for 50ml.
The luxury moisturiser has become a firm favourite among beauty lovers, but shoppers looking for a cheaper option could try Revolution Pro Miracle Cream instead, which is often compared to the high-end formula and is just €12 for 50ml.
For those who love a good SPF, Supergoop's Unseen Sunscreen (€41.98 for 50ml) is another popular beauty buy that comes with a more affordable alternative.
Byoma's Ultralight Face Fluid SPF 50 is a budget-friendly alternative worth considering, offering high-factor sun protection in a lightweight formula for just €19.
Dr Aamna also recommends a cheaper alternative to the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Berry.
The popular Laneige product costs €24 for 20g, but shoppers can swap it for the Boots Berry Lip Sleep Mask, which costs just €5.99 for the same 20g size.
The Boots alternative contains ingredients including coconut oil and shea butter, which help lock in moisture and leave lips feeling softer.
With the Laneige mask costing almost five times as much, the Boots version could be a handy alternative for anyone looking to save a little money on their beauty routine.
These swaps are a reminder that you don't always have to reach for the most expensive products to find effective additions to your skincare routine.
