This is how long it takes to see results from your new cleanser

Patience is a virtue, or so they say.

When we add some new purchases to our skincare regime, we immediately start the timer to see how long it takes to kick in. Anything over an hour and we’ve dubbed the product a failure and a waste of our money. However, it can take time for skincare products to make a real change. Yes, patience really is a virtue and giving a beauty product time to work its magic can leave you seeing major results. But how long should we actually be waiting? Well, when it comes to our cleansers, not that long at all. Yes, apparently you should actually be seeing results from your cleanser pretty much immediately.

“You should notice a difference right away, as in whether it’s right or wrong for your skin,” MD Mona Gohara told Cosmopolitan. “If your skin feels immediately dry, your cleanser is too harsh for you, whereas a good, suitable cleanser should leave your skin immediately softer and smoother since it’s nourishing your barrier versus destroying it.”

However, for those cleansers purpose-built for tackling blemishes, you might have to wait a little longer for them to kick in.

“You should see improvement in your current blemishes within a week or two, with full, final results after three months.”
