I don’t say this lightly, but the Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil has earned its permanent spot on my bathroom shelf.
I started using it religiously during my first pregnancy, when my bump was growing at a speedy rate, and like a lot of people, I wanted to take care of my skin as it stretched and changed.
But just to say upfront; there is absolutely nothing wrong with stretch marks. They’re completely natural, they tell a story, and the ones I do have now? I genuinely love them.
The oil itself is gorgeous, it has that spa-like smell (not overpowering, which really matters when you’re pregnant), and it absorbs so well without leaving you feeling greasy.
My skin always felt softer and just really well cared for. Also, a slightly unexpected bonus was when my belly button finally popped (which is a moment), I found that using this oil actually made clothes feel so much more comfortable against my skin - which I hadn’t even thought about beforehand but ended up really appreciating.
The brand claims that this oil “helps firm, tone and improve elasticity, smoothing the appearance of stretch marks” and that it is “effective in removing stretch marks" over time.
The reviews from other mums online alone sold me on trying it out, and in terms of results, I ended up with very few minor stretch marks, which I do think is partly down to genetics, and partly down to consistently using this product from the beginning of my pregnancy.
But again, this isn’t about “fixing” or “avoiding” stretch marks, it’s about feeling good in your skin while it’s doing something pretty incredible.
I’ve continued using it postpartum because I love how it makes my skin feel, and because it reminds me to take a minute for myself, and I recommend it to literally every friend and family member.
So, if you’re pregnant (or just want softer skin), this is 100% worth trying.
