Affogato means "drowned" in Italian—fitting, as this is nothing but vanilla ice cream drowned in strong espresso.
And yet, when you try it, you will realize that those two things were destined to be combined – and wonder what you have been doing with your life up until this point having not discovered this treat sooner.
You don't even need a how-to with this one. All you do is pour a shot of strong, jet-black espresso over a scoop or two of good-quality vanilla ice cream (or, even better, actual gelato!) and you're done!
Now; go grab a spoon and get the best bite, the first one—where the ice cream is still cold, firm ice cream and the espresso is still hot and black.
