Aperol Spritz is the drink that practically screams 'sunny weather.'
And if you are not already a fan, fear not; you are about to become one.
If you fancy something refreshing to drink this long weekend, this classic Italian tipple is pretty much the perfect choice. According to '
locals,' Aperol is best enjoyed during aperitivo hour, when celebrating the end of the work day with friends, along with delicious Italian ‘cicchetti’ small plates.
But really; once you've tasted one, I think you'll agree with us that you can pretty much enjoy one anytime, anywhere.
1. Classic Aperol Spritz
If you have yet to have one, you are not living your best life at all yet.
What you need
- A bottle of chilled Prosecco
- A bottle of Aperol
- Soda, served from a syphon or chilled bottle
- Tall balloon or wine glasses
- Ice cubes
- Slices of orange
How to make it
- Fill the glasses generously with cubed ice
- Combine Prosecco followed by Aperol in equal parts
- Add a splash of soda
- Garnish with a slice of orange – and an olive on a stick, if you're doing it the way they serve it in Venice.
2. Boozy Aperol Spritz Popsicles
Because this frosty version of the classic Italian cocktail is everything your summers have been missing.
Ingredients
- 2 cups lemonade
- 3/4 cup Aperol
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice, strained
- Prosecco, cava or club soda
Instructions
- In a 4-cup liquid measuring cup or medium bowl, stir together the lemonade, aperol and orange juice. Divide the mixture evening among the popsicle molds. Freeze at least 1 hour then insert popsicle sticks. Return to the freezer and freeze 6 to 8 hours or until solid.
- To remove popsicles, run warm water on the outside of the popsicle mold until it releases. If desired, place popsicle in a glass and serve with prosecco.
3. Aperol Negroni
Say hello to the most patio-worthy cocktail you'll want to linger over this summer.
What you need
One Part Aperol - 25ml
One Part Sweet Vermouth - 25ml
One Part Gin - 25ml
- Cubed Ice & Wedge of Orange
Instructions
Pour one part Aperol into a small rocks glass, add in one part Sweet Vermouth & finally one part Gin. Top the glass up with cubed ice and stir, dropping in a wedge of fresh orange. Enjoy!
