Take a night off next month and head to the one and only Oktoberfest

Time to get excited.

Everyone's favourite beer festival, Oktoberfest, is coming back to Dublin next month. The highly anticipated event, which takes home to George's Dock, will be here from September 14 until October 1, and we're already counting down the days.

If you've never been before (are you crazy?), the docklands are transformed into a German wonderland, with beer barrels, traditional costumes and frankfurters at every corner. According to the Oktoberfest Dublin website, the German food this year will include, "Bratwurst, Steak & Burger, Leberkäs, Haxn, Sauerkraut, Roasted potatoes, Hot Dog & Fries, Burgundian ham, Farmers Bread, Schmalzkuchen, Crepes, Candy, Pretzels."

From September 14, the opening hours of the event are:

• Mondays to Thursdays 12.00pm – 11.30pm
• Fridays to Saturdays 12.00pm – 04.30pm + 05.30pm – 11.30pm
• Sundays 12.00pm – 10.30pm
