An amateur baker has won the top prize at this year’s Cake International competition with her life-sized Prince George cake. And it is exactly as it sounds, it’s a LIFE-SIZED cake of Prince George.
Lara Mason (29), who is originally from Belfast, spent 30 hours putting the masterpiece together but the time and effort was all worth it as she came first in the contest, held in Birmingham.
The cake is modelled on this image of Prince George.
The cake, which is modelled on the pictures of Prince George at Princess Charlotte’s christening, was just under three feet tall and is purely for decorative purposes.
It was constructed with a mixture of rods and wood as well as sponge cake, chocolate and icing.

Lara has been awarded a number of prizes for her other creations which include a life-sized Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean and Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games.
Speaking about her latest cake, she told Express & Star: “The judges last year said they wanted to see something a bit smaller so I thought what could I do.
“Prince George is instantly recognisable and he’s very cute, so that helped.”
While the judges were clearly impressed with Lara’s efforts, others didn’t warm to it.
If we’re being completely honest, we can’t help but feel it’s a little bit creepy and wouldn’t be surprised if it started walking about wreaking havoc Chucky-style.

@marginallybored Is eating a piece of the Prince George cake an act of treason, for a start… — Helen Grieve (@grieve51166) November 6, 2015
Saw a life-sized cake of Prince George on Twitter. Creepy much? Who’d eat that, and what part do you slice into first (w/o feeling guilty)?
