Nestlé respond to criticism over “shrinking” Quality Street tins

It isn’t Christmas until a tin of Quality Street has been opened in the house… but this year there might be fewer tins being opened after this picture went viral. Customer Charlotte Stacey Hook posted a picture on Facebook showing how the container size has changed over the years and it went viral with thousands of ‘Likes’ and Shares She captioned it: “Been putting the Christmas tree up, always keep my tins to put my decorations in after Christmas! Look how They’ve changed in size from 1998 till 2014! Bring back the big tins!!! Loyal quality street customer!!!! [sic].” Retailer Nestlé has since defended itself against the criticism which stems from the fact that the tins used to be 1.7kg and are now 780g. It reminded people that there is a larger tin on sale for fans of Quality Street, explaining: "This image does not compare like for like. "As well as the 780g tub pictured, we also have a 1.3kg tin available which lovers of Quality Street might like to try this Christmas. "We want to give the best possible value for money and we believe that this product is still extremely competitive." That hasn’t stopped people talking about it though…
