There is a lot of information out there on what you should and shouldn’t be giving your kids but one of the major issues concerns controlling the amount of sugar they are consuming.
Well, there might be an easier way to keep track of that, thanks to
Public Health England (PHE).
BBC News reports that the organisation has launched the “Sugar Smart” app as part of their 'Change4Life' advertising campaign.
The free app covers over 75,000 products and works by scanning the barcode and revealing how much sugar the item contains in cubes or grams.

It is aimed at spreading awareness about the amount of sugar contained in certain foods and drinks in the hope of preventing tooth decay, diabetes and obesity among kids.
PHE claims that children aged four to 10 are consuming, on average, 22kg of added sugar every year. (That’s over 5,000 cubes.)
That sounds like an awful lot of sugar!
At the moment, the app is only available in England but you never know, it could make it's way across the water soon.
