New Yorkers are coming out of hibernation today after narrowly avoiding the path of the Blizzard Juno, but the scariest part of the last two days for many had absolutely nothing to do with snow drifts or storms.
As locals rushed to stock their fridges with sustenance before NY Mayor Bill de Blasio’s travel ban was put in place yesterday, New Yorkers took to Twitter to lament the apparent shortage of… kale.
Word has it the curly, green vegetable disappeared from the shelves early in the day as health-conscious New Yorkers stock-piled it for salads and smoothies.
The brassica-with-benefits, which is packed with fibre, vitamins and nutrients, was so in-demand that a hashtag soon appeared beside #blizzardof2015 and #juno2015, heralding the #kalepocalypse.
