The book offers more than 200 recipes and daily menu planners to take you from first tastes through each stage of weaning.
Neven also weighs in on the organic debate and offers great tips and advice for parents on everything from essential equipment to setting goals for your littlies.
Neven says:
"I tend to avoid sweetened yoghurts and those marketed specifically at children. I make my own fruit purée instead, which can then be added to natural yoghurt. Natural plain yoghurt is a naturally healthy food that can be a good source of calcium and protein, and it may have some vitamin D added."
Simple Fruit Yoghurt
Makes 3–6 portions.
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe mango, papaya or banana or 2 peaches, nectarines or apricots (feel free to use a mixture of these fruits)
- 150ml carton full-fat natural yoghurt
Directions:
1. Peel the fruit, then remove the stones if there are any in the fruit you are using and mash the flesh to a purée with a fork (or use a food processor for a smoother result).
2. Stir the fruit purée into the yoghurt or layer it up in suitable containers or plastic glasses.
3. Cover with cling film and use as required over the course of 2 days.
