Well, according to Vlatka Lake from Space Station, storing your eggs in this spot means they'll be exposed to more temperature changes.
As the fridge door opens and closes regularly (because of course it does, it's non-stop in my home), the eggs are going from cool temperatures to warmer ones.
This leads to the eggs rotting quicker due to the changes in heat levels.
Lake said:
“The general consensus is to store eggs in the fridge, but not in the egg racks commonly found on the fridge door. “Egg racks are susceptible to changes in temperature due to the fridge door opening and closing and can cause your eggs to go rotten more quickly.”Lake also said that although some people like to store their eggs outside of the fridge altogether, keeping them cooler is generally the best way to go.
