To make the tree you will need:
Step One:
Measure out nine crosses on greaseproof paper, leaving space in between each one. The measurements are as follows:
18cm, 17cm, 16cm, 15cm, 14cm, 13cm, 11cm, 9cm, 7cm.
Step Two:
Put a few squares of chocolate aside to use later when assembling the tree. Melt the remainder of the chocolate in a glass bowl over a saucepan of boiling water on a low heat. Once all the chocolate has been melted, add the almonds. (If you want, you can toss the almonds on a frying pan with no oil for a few minutes before adding them in to enhance the flavour.)
Step Three:
Spoon the chocolate mixture onto the crosses and leave them to harden. Once it has completely set, you can begin to stack the branches at alternate angles using some melted chocolate as your glue to hold everything in place. Once the tree is complete, you can shake some icing sugar over it to resemble snow. Serve on a decorative platter, maybe with a few tea lights around the base.
And voilà, such an impressive dessert in no time at all!Explore more on these topics:
