The Homemade Eggnog Recipe That Takes 10 Minutes (Or Less)

Amanda Cassidy

I am a total eggnog snob.

My dad made it every year at Christmas (with a very heavy hand). He grew up in America, so it was a steadfast family tradition originally made with his grandmother’s fair hand. The recipe was a very closely guarded secret, only ever to be passed on to the eldest child.

Now, my older sister holds the eggnog reins in our family, and she refuses to break this tradition.  It used to annoy me, but now it means we all just go to her house Christmas morning and knock back her creamy nog, wreck her house and leave.

Perhaps next year I will create my own secret recipe. For now, I am happy to divulge this delicious concoction we came across on top foodie blog Whole And Heavenly Oven. It is vegetarian, gluten-free and alcohol-free, but if you want to make it ‘Irish’ just add a shot of brandy or two. Taste to serve.

10 Minute Creamy Egg Nog

Ingredients:

8 egg yolks

1 tsp nutmeg

2/3 cup sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups of cream

4 cups of milk

Instructions:

Whisk it all together and add a stick of cinnamon to decorate. This makes about eight glasses.
