Lucky for us, this autumn-winter, IKEA is embracing long-term sustainable style while making small, positive changes to the home to create a fresh look and feel. Simple tweaks will help establish a cosy atmosphere, perfect for dark nights relaxing with friends and family.
"Having spent more time in the same four walls following the normalisation of working from home, we are seeing heightened creativity in the way we decorate our spaces," Clotilde Passalacqua, Interior Design Manager at IKEA UK and Ireland, says. "This season we are going to see more people embrace fun in the home, with bold statement pieces that express their individual personality."

Natural Neutrals
The global IKEA Life at Home Report 2021 revealed that over a quarter of adults worldwide feel having a clutter-free home is important to them. More and people are embracing a minimalist aesthetic, considering earthy, neutral tones to help create a sense of tranquillity.
“Our homes are a place to unwind and de-stress, and a neutral colour scheme with natural accents helps achieve that sought-after sanctuary," Passalacqua says.
"Nature also has a relaxing influence on the mind, so incorporating house plants like the MONSTERA DELICIOSA will draw on those vibrant natural colours and help to create a positive environment. Consider materials as well as colour tones when styling each room. One of the biggest bonuses of decorating your home with neutral pieces is their versatility."
Passalacqua also reveals that contrasting textures in the same shade work just as well as contrasting colours - from sage green and subtle browns to rattan and bamboo, these earthy colours and organic materials will create a chic environment whilst bringing the calming effects of the outdoors in.
“If you are looking for hero pieces to create a reading nook to nestle into or shelving to display that show-stopping centrepiece, the Buskbo chair or Ivar unit crafted with their natural wood texture are sure to create impact within your space. To generate depth, a neutral colour scheme can be brought to life with an injection of colour that embraces any individual personality.

Nostalgic Expression
In an ever-changing world, seeking familiarity wherever we can is something we embrace - from the food we eat and clothes we wear, to how we furnish our homes.
According to the global IKEA Life at Home Report, 93 percent of adults worldwide think it is important that their home provides them with a sense of comfort. While trends come and go, those four walls should be a haven, a place to create memories and provide a relaxing sanctuary from the world outside.
“One way to achieve the Nostalgic Expression look is by introducing both floral and mixed patterns into your space, which helps to create a comforting and inviting environment, Passalacqua reveals.
"Dress your bedroom with the a new duvet cover set and give your sofa some colour with the Tuvsäv cushion cove, with both textiles combining whites, golds, and greens for a soft floral finish.
Passalacqua explains that another way of bringing Nostalgic Expression into your home is by experimenting with vintage tones, colours, and patterns to capture a timeless feel.
"Rich shades of green, soft greys and blues make up the main colour palette, while chunky textured fabrics that embody warmth complete the wholesome aesthetic. Complement plain patterns with bold textures, like the simple dusky green of a throw which brings a sense of cosiness whilst also making a statement."
