IKEA’s new spring collection is here – and we had a sneak peek

Trine Jensen-Burke

Like Micheál Martin, we are all excited for spring now.

And especially this one.

Now that the Covid-19 pandemic is more or less behind us – can you believe it – we are so ready to embrace everything we love about the season ahead. We want to invite family over for dinner and host parties and throw open the doors of our homes to friends once more – be it inside or, when the weather heats up, in our gardens and on our terraces.

And lucky for us, the IKEA spring 2022 collection is filled with clever, stylish – and affordable – buys for just that.

This spring and summer, IKEA are celebrating the home as a space that is multifunctional – be it as a place to spend time with friends or family, work from home from – or even relaxing in peaceful solitude – for those still keen to do that.

The trend forecasters and interior experts at IKEA have predicted three major trends that will inspire us all when it comes to our homes in 2022.

Curated Cluttercore

As sustainability and being eco-conscious are key pillars of IKEA’s purpose, this spring/summer, IKEA is encouraging the appreciation and celebration of items that are already in the home, or the ‘clutter’, rather than replacing or throwing it away.

Curated Cluttercore is a way for people to celebrate their ‘clutter’ by adding items that show it off in a way that allows them to embrace their own personality and uniqueness in the little things.

Collective Celebration

As the pandemic draws to a tentative close, IKEA knows that the time for social and family gatherings will be a priority for many in the coming months.

Collective Celebration focuses on making any space at home into a warm and welcoming place perfect for the long-awaited catch ups. This includes colourful patterns that are interesting to the eye and statement pieces that will add richness and depth to any table, room or living space.

Outside In

Spring and summer are an ideal time to reconnect with nature. Over the past year and a half, IKEA has learned how important outdoor spaces and being in touch with the outside world is to many.

The ‘Outside In’ trend encourages that by creating easy and accessible ways that everyone can bring nature right into their homes in small and effective ways.
