10 buys for your spring wardrobe you’ll want to live in for the next few months

Get ready to have the perfect capsule spring wardrobe

Trine Jensen-Burke

Spring is – finally –around the corner.

And after a winter that was most definitively bloody baltic, we are more than ready to pack away woollies and baggy coats for clothes that are lighter and fresher –and can’t wait to give our wardrobe a little over-haul for the season ahead.

The shops are brimming with new spring clothes, but becuase the heat of summer is no doubt still a while off (this is Ireland, mamas), the trick is assembling a fab base wardrobe that will see you through the next few months in style – no matter what the weather.

Go for items you can mix and match with bits you already own, and you’ll realise you actually have far more outfit options that you thought you did. Dresses that can be worn with both flats and killer heels, dressed up or down with the addition of a biker jacket or cute t-shirts that will look as good worn under a blazer for the office as it will paired with a denim skirt or jeans for the weekend.

What we are adding to our carts right now? Take a look:

1. Printed t-shirt

A graphic tee might just be the backbone of your spring wardrobe this year, and we love this simple organic cotton one, and plan to wear it with on repeat for the next few months.

Printed Cotton T-Shirt, €9,99, Lindex

2. Modal blend blouse

Blue is such a big colour thing spring, and we love the billowing, romantic shape of this blouse. Wear with anything from boyfriend jeans or leather leggings, and in a few months, when the weather gets warmer, it will still look pretty with your denim cut-offs or the denim skirt below.

Modal blend blouse, €27,99, H&M

3. The perfect denim skirt

Few items of clothing are as hard-working as denim, and for spring (and summer) a great denim skirt will go with everything.

Denim midi skirt, €40, M&S

4. Blouse with contrasting embroidery

Folksy embroidery is still all sorts of trendy, and we like this monochrome take on it that Zara is doing with this blouse. It will look as good paired with some black pants for work or more dressed up events as it will worn with your denim skirt for the weekend.

Blouse With Contrasting Embroidery, €39, Zara

5.  Two-tone crossbody leather bag

Cross-body bags are having a moment, and if you pick one in classic leather, like this Massimo Dutti one, you’ll get plenty of use out of it. Bonus? Bags you can carry and still have both hands free is a total mama must-have, if you ask us.

Two-tone crossbody leather bag, €129, Massimo Dutti

6. Rushed waist midi dress

How gorgeous is this dress?! We are planning on wearing ours pretty much anywhere over the next few months, from the office to a variety of family dinners and even out for drinks with the girls (just throw your biker jacket on over it, and you are good to go).

Rushed Waist Midi Dress, €88, M&S

7. Denim skinny jeans

The perfect amount of stretch, the exact right lenght and the goes-with-everything shade of blue, these skinnies will see you through the next few months – and beyond.

Denim skinny jeans, €13, Penneys

8. Biker-style nappa leather jacket

Every wardrobe needs to have the perfect, wear-with-everything biker jacket, and while €250 might seem like a lot of money, this is an investment you’ll reach for over and over and over again, trust us. The best bit? The jacket will get better looking the more you wear it!

Biker-style nappa leather jacket, €249, Massimo Dutti

9. Pleated dress

Say hello to your new wear-everywhere dress. In the office, pair it with some pointed black heels, and on the weekends, tough it up with some ankle boots and a denim jacket.

Pleasted dress, €44,99, H&M

10. Sherbet tassel slippers

A great pair of flats is anohter must-buy ever spring, and right now, we are having a major crush on slipper-style shoes, like these Topshop ones. The tassel detailing adds a bit of fun, and will make even the simplest of jeans-and-a-white-blouse outfit look more interesting.

Sherbet tassel slippers, €36, Topshop
