The 10 Dresses That Made Us Swoon At The Red Carpet Last Night

Trine Jensen-Burke

The 88th Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles last night, and while the movies and actors nominated are (obvs!) the reason the Oscar’s are celebrated in the first place, we can’t help but feel that the most important bit is what takes place before the actual awards kick off.

The red carpet watching at the Oscar’s is every fashion lover’s dream, and while all the celebs who show up at the red carpet generally bring it, that does not mean that they always nail it.

These girls, though, totally won the red carpet last night, and had our spines tingling in pure fashion awe.

1. Chrissy Teigen in Marchesa

There’s maternity fashion, and then there is Chrissy Teigen, who just took dressing your bump to a whole new level with this jaw-dropping Marchesa gown. It’s a classic, flattering silhouette that celebrates Chrissy’s (insane!) body, and is giving her baby girl one hell of a great start to her lifetime photo album.

2. Priyanka Chopra in Zuhair Murad

We’d even wear this dress getting married, that’s how much we loved it.

3. Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive

This delicate, lovely seafoam green confection sort of makes Cate look like she’s just changed back into a human after spending time living as mermaid. It’s a dress you just want to touch (and cry over the sheer beauty of it!)

4. Saoirse Ronan in custom Calvin Klein

Simply put, she nailed it. Not only is the green a nice nod to the aul’ homeland, but it is also both subtle and sexy, and a fab way for Saoirse to show everyone she is now a proper movie star.

5. Naomi Watts in Armani Prive

We just want to touch Naomi’s dress and marvel at how impossibly elegant she looked.

6. Olivia Munn in Stella McCartney

That colour. That cut.

7. Charlize Theron in Dior

Oh, Charlize. You proved to us again that few things beat a stunner of a red dress.

8. Julianne Moore in Chanel Couture

Julianne More, stunning. Chanel, stunning. Together? Out of this world.

9. Margot Robbie in Diane von Furstenberg

Our jaws collectively dropped when we spotted Margot on the red carpet last night. No-one has ever looked that chic in head-to-toe gold before. Ever.

10. Rooney Mara in Givenchy Haute Couture

We are a little torn on this one. There is no denying that the Givenchy gown is an absolute work of art, but we also feel like that maybe the stunning Rooney could have looked even more jaw-dropping in something a little punchier, no?
