Even though we have been beyond lucky with this year’s autumn weather so far (touch wood!), there is no denying that the mornings are getting cooler by the day, and it is time to start wrapping up in cozy coats and snug layers once again.
If your little ones are anything like ours, they have grown like weeds since you packed away last year’s winter coats sometime this spring, and nothing fits. But fear not, the shops are full of warm, snug and totally gorgeous outerwear to fit any style and budget you had in mind.

We recently had a chat with children’s wear buyer Jenny Erwin from Arnotts, ahead of their Arnotts Children’s Fashion Weekend, to pick her brains about what is hot for tots this winter. Here is what she had to say:
“This season we are seeing a lot of both practical and fun designs when it comes to outerwear. Berry colours are popular, both for girls and boys, and we are also seeing a lot of fur trims and fur linings. There is a lot of focus on materials, which, when it comes to winter clothes, have to be both hard-working and functional. You need to be able to trust that they clothes will keep them warm and dry this winter. But just because something is practical, it does not mean it can’t be fun too. We are seeing lots of fun colours and designs that children will love to wear this season.”

Zara is THE go-to shop when it comes to gorgeous off-the-catwalk style for us mums – and also for our littles. This belted trench coat is perfect for your stylish little lady (€39,95), and this three-quarter length coat is such a smart look for cool boys (€39,95).
