Style: 7 New York Fashion Week-inspired looks for Autumn

HerFamily

Monochrome, minimalist tailoring, block colour and fringe; it was all in the details at this year’s New York Fashion Week. While the shows happened inside, the streets of New York were the real runway.

Call it ‘peacocking’ if you wish, but regardless of this, these street style stars know how to dress and what trends are wearable.

Here’s how to channel the trends with a mix of high street and high end:

Longline sleeveless coat by Warehouse, €90, via Maven 46.com

Style ’em: If you’re pottering around the shops or meeting your mates for a sneaky espresso, go for ripped skinnies, big shades, and shoe boots.

If the vibe is not casual, go for a wedge heel or tan riding boots with dark leggings tucked inside and a simple T-shirt underneath. Either way you’ll be comfy and stylish in this easy-to-wear jacket.

(L – R) Sleeveless crepe jacket, Whistles, €145. Velvet Tux jacket, Topshop, €102. Tailored jacket, Reiss, €530 – all via Maven 46.com

Style ’em: The smart jacket never dates, and the tux is a revolution. Both work with literally everything from grunged-up Kurt Cobain T-shirts, to crisp linen grandad shirts. If you don’t own one, your life is incomplete. Shop the trend and I promise you’ll understand.

(L – R) Denim top, Zara, €40. Sleeveless jacket, River Island, €100 – all via Maven 46.com

Style ’em: A white midi skirt will look awesome with this versatile denim find. The jacket-cum-dress option paired with white structured trousers is cool too. Add a simple court and you’re good-to-go.

(L – R) Slouchy striped sweater, Whistles, €160 – all via Maven 46.com

Style ’em: Indigo-coloured jeggings or jeans would offset the longer sweater length. A leather jacket with a cinched waist will compliment this look. White trainers would be slick, too.
