Getting hitched just isn't cheap!
I got an almighty shock when I started to plan my wedding. I was blissfully unaware about how much it would actually cost to plan a wedding. Then when I got engaged, I started to calculate the amount and nearly had heart failure.
No matter what you do or how much you try to cut back it's still very expensive. Just mentioning the word "wedding" alongside some ordinary products automatically doubles the price.
The lovely people over at
WeddingsOnline have done some research and found that the average price of a wedding in Ireland is €24,427, which is an increase of 8% since last year.
That price tag includes everything to do with the big day and also the honeymoon.
Some individual costs are up on last year with bands costing 26% more, venues increasing by 9 percent and photographers costing 8% more.
Half of the couples admitted that they went over their budget and 15% also said they overspent by a whopping €5,000.
In terms of the honeymoon, newlyweds spend on average €5,000.
The findings are based on a survey of 2,000 people surveyed in January 2017.
Everyone's budget is different and, of course, you can scale back where you need to and still have an amazing day.
